Entrepreneurship can be a lot like Week 5 of the 2023 NFL season, people may doubt you and you may have had a few losses, but victory is sweet when you don’t quit. This could be said about the New York Jets who lost their quarterback, Arron Rodgers; during the Week 1 matchup against the Buffalo Bills. The 39-year-old quarterback tore his left Achilles tendon during the home game. Rodgers, season ending injury has caused a debate over which surface is best for players: grass or turf.

In 2022, “the rate for noncontact lower-extremity injuries on artificial turf rose to a rate of .048 per 100. The corresponding rate on grass was 0.035” https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/36243906/nflpa-new-injury-data-shows-grass-significantly-safer-turf. Currently, there are 15 NFL stadiums that have natural grass. MetLife Stadium is not one of them; and has recently had Field Turf installed. Lloyd Howell, the executive director of the NFL Players Association's (NFLPA) released a statement saying "moving all stadium fields to high quality natural grass surfaces is the easiest decision the NFL can make," but NFL commissioner Roger Goodell said that it is a "complex issue" https://www.espn.com/nfl/story/_/id/38391956/after-aaron-rodgers-injury-nflpa-calls-grass-all-stadiums.

Many players agree with Eagles Center, Jason Kelce who expressed on a recent episode on his podcast, New Heights, that he shares with his brother Travis (Tight End for the Chiefs), that the NFL needs to remove all turf. The pair discussed the effect of turf on the joints. Travis Kelce recently injured his right ankle while playing on turf but was able to return to the field during the game. The Eagles, who currently have a 5-0 winning record will face the Jets at MetLife Stadium for Week 6, and the Eagles vet is not looking forward to it https://youtu.be/EDgrHM4EExk?t=3815.

While the NFL and the union address this issue, the Jets addressed sceptics by winning their first game since Week 1. Some said this was supposed to be an “easy” game for the Broncos. Many have said that there was no way that the Jets could win a game without Rodgers, but after a few losses the Jets finally won during Week 5 matchup against the Denver Broncos, 31 – 21.

When we press on and don’t give up, we will see results. It is easy to fall into the mindset of being unworthy when you don’t have the support of those around you. Changing your prospective will have you facing obstacles like San Francisco 49ers veteran safety Tashaun Gipson Sr.

Gipson caught his 33rd career interceptions against the Dallas Cowboys during Week 5, but all I saw was someone running towards the goal when every obstacle was headed his way. He didn’t stop or become timid; he ran full force. He tried to navigate a path that would yield him the best results. He planned and strategized while in motion never taking his eye off the goal.

Week 5 teaches us that we must stay focused, plan well, and never stop moving forward; even when you see opposition coming your way, don’t stop.
